BIOPAQ® RISE offers a more elegant architecture for high-rate anaerobic wastewater treatment. A modern architecture for higher loading rates

BIOPAQ® RISE introduces a compact external separation module that enhances anaerobic reactor performance through better granule retention and more effective use of reactor volume. It keeps the proven BIOPAQ process basis, but modernizes how three-phase separation is executed. For plants limited by biomass washout, space, or upgrade complexity, RISE creates a simpler and more serviceable path to higher performance.

What is so special about BIOPAQ® RISE?

Traditional high-rate anaerobic systems rely on internal three-phase separation that takes up space inside the reactor and can be difficult to service. BIOPAQ® RISE rethinks that arrangement. Its external 3D-printed separators are stacked inside a standpipe, allowing easier cleaning, simpler integration, and a more modular overall system. The biology remains proven. The architecture gets better.

Uniquely designed system module

BIOPAQ® RISE provides efficient three-phase separation of biogas, liquid, and solids. The external standpipe captures granules that may leave the bioreactor and redirects them back into the bioreactor, helping maintain biomass inventory, reactor stability, and long-term performance.

Use BIOPAQ® RISE for retrofit - or choose it for a better new-build configuration

Granule retention is critical in anaerobic wastewater treatment. In older reactor concepts such as UASB reactors and EGSB, poor-performing internal separators may allow biomass washout while also consuming valuable treatment volume inside the reactor. BIOPAQ® RISE addresses both issues by externalizing separation. That makes it especially attractive for retrofitting underperforming reactors, but also relevant for new projects that demand a simpler, more serviceable architecture from day one. Even an existing tank can be transformed into an anaerobic reactor with the addition of a BIOPAQ® RISE standpipe.
